INTRODUCING

OVERVIEW

Designed for Combat Medics where size, weight and extreme ease of use are paramount, the SAVe II improves triage capabilities and elevates the standard of care in the pre-hospital environment.  Simply select the height of the patient and the device dials in a preset tidal volume based on the patient’s Ideal Body Weight.  This helps reduce operator error and eliminate the guesswork associated with bagging in a high stress environment or setting up an overly complicated transport vent and frees up the medic to treat other injuries, assist other patients or pack the patient for transport.  This 2.7 lb device runs for a remarkable 10 hours on a single charge.  To receive additional information or to arrange a demonstration of the device contact us.

HOW IT WORKS
The SAVe II uses a rechargeable lithium ion battery driven pump to deliver ambient air for up to 10 hours.  Simply select the height of the patient and the device dials in a ARDSNet Protocol recommended tidal volume based on the patient’s ideal body weight.  A respiratory rate is selected that generates a minute volume of 5-6.5 LPM depending on the size of the patient. Adjustments to rate, volume, peak inspiratory pressure and PEEP can be made as necessary. Supplemental O2 can be used to vary FIO2 21-100%.

features

FEATURES
The SAVe uses a rechargeable lithium battery to drive an internal pump that delivers ambient air for up to 10 hours per charge. The device monitors airway pressure and will cut the pump off at 30 cmH2O.  Alarms for disconnect, high pressure, spontaneous breath and low battery assist the medic in monitoring the patient. The SAVe II does not require O2 to operate but if desired low pressure supplemental air can be titrated to the patient.  It is a time cycle, volume targeted, pressure limited device.

WHY CHOOSE SAVe II

care

ELEVATE STANDARD OF CARE

Simply select the height of the patient and the SAVe II delivers a safe consistent volume at a fixed but adjustable rate.

cape

IMPROVE TRIAGE CAPEBILITIES

It frees up the medic to treat other injuries, assist other patients, start fluids, administer drugs or pack the paitent for transport.

use

EXTREMELY EASY TO USE

Eliminate the guesswork and operator error associated with bagging or operating overly sophisticated transport vents.  Simply select the height of the patient.
The Dangers of BVMS

Ventilating a patient using a bag valve device requires significant concentration and skill in stressful situations. With every squeeze of the bag, the medic is selecting the respiratory rate and tidal volume.  Despite performing well in a classroom, BVMs have been linked to high incidence of hyperventilation which increases mean intrathoracic pressure. This additional pressure impedes venous return and decreases cardiac output.  It may accelerate the rate of an uncontrolled bleed, contribute to popping the clot and unduly elevate intracranial pressure in TBI patients.

The SAVe II mitigates the potential for injury, reduces operator error, complies with guidelines, and improves the responder’s ability to perform other critical tasks.  The SAVe II performs as well in the field with your ears ringing as in the classroom.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is the SAVe II (NSN: 6515-01-655-3181) kitted?

The SAVe II is kitted in a water proof hard case and includes a power charger, patient circuit, O2 reservoir, mask, head-strap and user manual.

How is the SAVe II powered?

The SAVe II utilizes a rechargeable lithium battery that drives a pump that delivers ambient air for up 10 hours.

Can oxygen be titrated to the patient?

The SAVe II accepts low pressure supplemental oxygen which is accumulated in a re-usable oxygen tube. By varying the flow of oxygen from the cylinder FIO2 ranges from 21-100%.

Does the SAVe II have a breathe assist mode?

Inspiratory effort greater than -2cm H2O will trigger the device to deliver a breath and sound a low priority alarm. Once the breath is triggered the device goes back to normal ventilation.

Can the device be used for BLS CPR?

The SAVe II can be used to follow BLS CPR guidelines by setting the respiratory rate to zero and manually triggering the breaths. Once the RR is set to zero the heart icon begins to flash at 100 times per minute to help the rescuer time compressions. After delivering 30 compressions simply deliver two manual breaths. The peak inspiratory pressure will be set to 20 cmH2O to mitigate chances of gastric insufflation.

Where can I purchase a SAVe II?
